Working in partnership with teachers from Kokkola Vocational Institute, Finland the team have developed three learning objects as part of a Leonardo da vinci EU bid. The learning objects were showcased by the UK team to students and businesses at a roadshow held in Kokkola, Finland. These included and interactive 3D model of a sewing machine that will aid students in the understanding of the health and safety implications when setting up the sewing machine and correct procedure that should be followed. When demonstrating such processes visually rather than verbally it is far easier for students to understand and remember the procedures in the future.
Other interactive elements that have been designed into the sewing machine include the ability to view and highlight different patterns used within its make up, view different stitches used in its creation along with an animation showing a cross section of how each stitch is made. The ability to change the colour and material of the bag has also been built in.
